Reiki is refilling or channeling Prana shakthi or Life force energy for any good purpose. This divine energy can be used for betterment of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual health, social wellbeing and also to aid in manifestation of desires.

Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one’s personal wellness.

History of Reiki

Reiki is associated with Japanese Enlightened Master Mikao Usui who is credited with rediscovering the root system of holistic healing through one’s own souls energy also called universal cosmic energy. His tradition and methods were passed through several grandmasters of Reiki. Today, Reiki takes many forms, however, The Usui System of Natural Healing is still the form most widely practiced. Practitioners and Master Teachers are trained through an initiation process where Masters pass on their knowledge and expertise to their students.

Description of a Typical Session

A session is usually 30 to 60 minutes long. A discussion will usually take place during an initial session with a Reiki Practitioner. They will describe the session to the client, give the client an opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues they are experiencing and ask them what they are hoping to achieve from their session.

For the actual session, the client will rest comfortably on a massage table on their back. Reiki can be performed with the client sitting comfortably in a chair as well. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothing are removed and a client is always fully clothed; loose, comfortable clothing is suggested. A session can either be hands-on, where a Practitioner will apply a light touch during the session, or hands-off where they will hold their hands slightly above your body(at the aura level). If a client prefers not to be touched they can indicate this to the practitioner before they begin.

The session will then proceed with the Reiki Practitioner moving through specific standard Reiki hand positions beginning at the person’s head or feet. A recipient of Reiki might feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session or nothing at all but sheer relaxation. The session should be very pleasant, relaxing and invigorating.

FAQ’s about Western Reiki

I Got my Reiki attunement from a Teacher who dint even touch me while attunement, is it the right procedure?

Attunement without touching the student is one of the funniest thing a So-called Reiki Teacher can do, because Reiki is basically “Touch Healing” and attunement is such a vital part to kick start your journey to cosmic realization. Which done by paying one on one attention to the student. Doing it in mass without connecting to the individual student’s energy field, stating someone has divine powers to do it in their own way just because they have been doing it for years this wrong way or holding false credit of “I have done it to thousands of people this way” doesn’t substantiate their blunder. It only shows her/his ego, immaturity and other selfish reasons.

Attunement is as auspicious as “Deeksha” in Hindu Culture. Please visit an appropriate Teacher who is humble enough respect Reiki practice by giving you personal time to attune you. Reiki Teacher must be committed enough to retain the purity of the knowledge to be eligible to bless or attune a student.

I was told its mandatory to learn hypnosis to learn Reiki, is it true?

It’s as good as someone advising you that you must be an Engineer to be a Doctor. This is one of the other means to pull crowd to their workshops. Do not be fooled by such people.

When I visited a Reiki Teacher with interest to learn Reiki, I was scared to death by telling I have 8 ghosts in my body and I must immediately learn Reiki with 7 other family and friends. I am very worried please guide me.

It is very sad to hear how some people called themselves as Reiki practitioners when they are indulging themselves in such an act of misleading people in the name of Reiki. All I understand from this is, motive of such people is to deceive you by enchasing your FEAR, and what else can be a better option than telling you have 7 to 10 ghosts in you.

There are many types of Reiki after the western intervention into it, but none of them include Ghost analysis as part of its syllabus. I have had many clients who come to me being petrified after such wrong analysis. Imagine the condition of the subject who is subjected to such fear when she/he is already in depression due to the problems they are going through.

About taking 5 or 10 more people along with you to learn Reiki is again a smart way of increasing the crowd. Spreading Reiki to as many people as possible around the world is no doubt a dream of every genuine Reiki Teacher, but using FEAR as the key and lie as a tool to pull people into the workshop is not even close to being genuine with their practice.

There are so many types of Reiki we hear about, how did they come into being and which is the right one for me?

After knowledge of Reiki went to the west, it become very popular due to its simplicity and effectiveness in healing people. Unfortunately, alongside many people started to misinterpret and misunderstand the concept of Reiki. Worst was when some started introducing their own illusions to it and started to create many types of Reiki, which the founder of Reiki himself never even spoke about. All in all, the originality of the science was lost.

With great efforts from an authentic group of people in Japan, who come from the lineage of Reiki which teaches the original form of Reiki as it was thought by its Originator. They have named this unadultered form of teaching as “Jikiden Reiki” ( Click here to know more). The others have just popped up by people around the world by blending their own way of looking at energy and healing. Some of these teaching are interesting and do no harm but others are deceiving.

You may learn a simple western Reiki technique as thought by Mrs Takata (who spread knowledge of Reiki to the western world), which must be good enough to introduce you to the world of universal cosmic energy. If you are keen to learn what was originally thought by its founder then Jikiden Reiki is the one for you. I wouldn’t advise you to waste your money and time in learning anything else.

I got a CD of Reiki in Market, which has video of a Reiki Teacher practicing Reiki, I was told just be watching it I can get Reiki energy, is it true?

This sounds so hilarious to me. How can watching a CD of someone else doing Reiki on their body feed energy into your system. Please don’t be deceived by such things. After attending the workshop of Reiki where in you can learn what is energy all about and how can you use that for your betterment, you must spare some time regularly to practice the healing.

There is definitely concept of distance healing in Reiki where the Reiki practitioner can take permission of the subject and send energy in distance. But seeing someone else do Reiki on themselves is not going to help you, it’s Just like how someone else eating on your behalf can’t feel your stomach you can’t expect energy to be fed into your system by watching the CD of someone else doing it.

How many hours workshop is learning Reiki going be, I read an advertisement somewhere that they can teach me in just one hour. Can I learn enough by going there?

Advertisements that just in 2 hours or so you can learn ALL four level of Reiki this must be work of a person doesn’t have vivid knowledge on Reiki.

Though Reiki is very simple method you need to learn your basics well to understand energy and different methods of self-healing. You must be very careful in choosing the right person to attune and teach you.

I was told that Reiki includes massage and to get healed I must be going for Reiki massage on a regular basis which also demands me to be naked during the session. Being a conservative Indian woman I am not very pleased with this, kindly guide me.

Reiki is NOT a massage. A massage entails manipulating the fascia, muscles, tissues, and working the articulations of the body for therapeutic relief. Reiki is performed with gentle “hands on” and/or “hands off” placement of hands on the area that needs treatment (affected area) or at certain energy centers of the body (otherwise known as chakras), as well as other areas of the body. Reiki sessions result in ease of flow in muscles and physical areas of pain, but this is due to rebalancing the energy body within on deep levels. However, there is no physical massage involved in a Reiki treatment.

In fact, no one has rights to touch your body at inappropriate places in the name of any healing treatments whatsoever. I have heard of many fake practitioners who are abusing women in the name of healing and treatments. I recommend you lodge a police complain on such cheaters and bring to the notice of your family about such an abuse. Many fake GURUS (who declare it on their own by printing it on their visiting card) abuse women in the name of healing. I have heard people say they got cheated and physically abused by believing that such treatments can relieve them from pain and suffering. Please be aware.

It is the responsibility of the practitioner to ensure you are 100% comfortable during the treatment. If a female is not comfortable about male therapist touching her during the session, then reiki can be given at the aura level(which doesn’t involve touching your body). Myths and Facts about Reiki

Myth:It is related to some strange cult or religion.

Fact: Reiki is all about channeling Universal Light. The principle teachings of Reiki embrace a life of balance and promotes spiritual growth. Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based in any particular religious doctrine. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s beliefs or personal values. People of many different faiths have discovered the healing-energies Reiki offers.

Myth: Giving Reiki to others depletes your own energy.

Fact: A Reiki practitioner does not give his personal energy over to the client. He serves as a channel, funneling Universal Life Energy through his body to the recipient. Much like the delivery boy delivering a package on your doorstep. The Reiki package is delivered, the delivery boy goes home fully intact.

‘Ki’ – energy is infinite and never run out. If a person giving a treatment experiences exhaustion during or after applying Reiki to others, this is likely an indication that something is out-of-balance in his own body or life that needs attention. Booking a healing session for himself with another practitioner or conducting self-treatments would be warranted.

Myth: If I Get Reiki Once, I’m Healed Forever.

Fact: I wish this was true. Well, sometimes it is true that with a single, short Reiki session, clients heal and cure of something forever. However, that’s working with a too narrow definition. Healing is holistic and as such, healing is a path, a process.

To make significant shifts on this path on significant issues, clients are recommended to take 5-6 sessions at a time. Typically, clients do this. Then they practice it on their own by learning how to practice Reiki in a Reiki workshop. No matter whether you work on your health preventative or reactive: healing is a process.
